“Scarlet Doom” Since 2014
Messa formed in Cittadella, Italy, in 2014 and describes its style as “Scarlet doom”, a mix of traditional doom, jazz, psychedelic rock, drone and dark ambient. The line-up consists of Sara Bianchin on vocals, Alberto Piccolo on guitars, Marco “Mark Sade” Zanin on bass and guitars, and Rocco “Mystr” Toldo on drums.
The band independently released its debut album “Belfry” in 2016, followed by “Feast for Water” in 2018 on Aural Music. After signing with Svart Records, the band released “Close” in 2022 and a live album recorded at Roadburn in 2023. In 2024 Messa signed with Metal Blade Records, which released the band’s fourth studio album, “The Spin”, in 2025. That record appeared on year-end lists from outlets including Decibel, Metal Hammer and Metal Injection.
Sara Bianchin Fronts The Band
Sara Bianchin is the vocalist of Messa. She has been part of the line-up since the band formed in Cittadella in 2014, alongside guitarist Alberto Piccolo, bassist and guitarist Marco “Mark Sade” Zanin and drummer Rocco “Mystr” Toldo. Her voice carries the band’s “Scarlet doom” style, which mixes traditional doom with jazz, psychedelic rock, drone and dark ambient.
